 Finally, Jio Cloud Service is here. During the 45th AGM Meet, Reliance officially launched Jio Cloud PC Service. It is a virtual PC service hosted using the new Jio Air Fiber (5G) technology. The device is claimed to bring the power of a desktop computer to every household and business at a very affordable price.

The telecom company claimed that the Jio Cloud PC would be a game changer for many different demographics, including students, gig workers, accountants, etc. They also say that the Jio Cloud PC does not require any upfront investment. It also does away with the need for periodic upgrading. “Using Jio Air Fiber”, people can do away with all expenses related to buying computer hardware, periodically upgrading it, and opt to use a virtual PC hosted in the cloud.

What is a Jio Cloud PC?

The Jio cloud PC is a virtualization service that provides a full-blown desktop experience on hardware that is not very desktop-like. An easy way will be to think of it as a streaming service. It streams the output of the desktop OS rather than streaming movies and TV shows.

Jio Cloud PC Service: Price and Availability

It is too early to say about the price and availability of the Jio Cloud PC service. As of now, there are no details on the price and availability of the device. But the Jio Cloud PC will likely be available once the Jio 5G service is rolled out. With no upfront investment or tension of periodical upgrading, a user needs to pay only to the extent used, resulting in a super-affordable way to bring the power of a PC. There are also no details about the device specification, but looking at the rendered images, we can assume that the PC will come with at least 4 USB ports, 1 RJ45 port, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

As mentioned, the Jio Cloud service could release after the rollout of the 5G service. Jio plans to launch Jio 5G services by Diwali 2022 in the Metro cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. It will rapidly expand to other cities and towns in phases to cover the entire India in 18 months by December 2023. After that, we can see the Jio Cloud PC services.
